has upset the dressing room by blaming poor performance on the pitch for the club’s recent redundancies. oversaw approximately 250 job cuts last year as part of his cost-slashing process to save United from financial ruin.

In an all-staff meeting on Monday, chief executive Omar Berrada announced that another wave of redundancies was imminent.

An email sent to employees shortly after the 30-minute summit confirmed that the club planned to axe another 150 to 200 members of the workforce.

The Red Devils suffered their worst-ever Premier League finish last term, in eighth, but look destined for the bottom half come May.

Ahead of Wednesday’s 3-2 win against Ipswich Town, Amorim claimed that United’s decline has contributed towards the club’s financial troubles.

“We have to improve the team. We need to perform better. We need to be in Europe and not in our position during the season,” the Portuguese head coach explained.

“That’s all. They are paying the price for our lack of success.”

According to , his comments haven’t gone down well among his underperforming squad, who are already under enough pressure to turn United’s fortunes around.

Players are said to believe that Amorim understood the club’s dire financial situation before he accepted the job in November.

And it’s claimed his latest spurt of honesty in front of the media has forced a distance between the ex-Sporting boss and his dressing room.

The report adds that no players have challenged Amorim over his actions because they haven’t yet formed a bond.

Amorim is working hard to instil his 3-4-3 system and has regularly insisted that United need to fix the recruitment mistakes of the past decade this summer.

However, some members of his squad reportedly feel like they can’t break rank and speak up to avoid a problem with their steadfast coach.

Amad is said to have bonded with Amorim before suffering season-ending ankle ligament damage in training earlier this month.

It’s claimed club captain acts as a link between the players and coaches, but his future at Old Trafford beyond the summer is up in the air.

Amorim has made no secret of his aim to “survive” until the summer when big changes in the dressing room are expected.
