Cleanliness is next to godliness, but Kathy Griffin was a little further from that ideal when she was dating actor Jack Black.
In the inaugural episode of her YouTube show “Kathy Griffin: Talk Your Head Off,” posted on Wednesday, Griffin gave us a peek into what it was like dating Black — although “dating” is a term she uses “loosely,” the comedian clarified.
“Jack Black was a really fun boyfriend to have,” she shared. “He was the first boyfriend I ever had where other bros thought I was cool because I was dating him.”
But things took an unexpected turn, she said. Griffin recalled staying the night at Black’s apartment in Vermont and embarking in the ritualistic hygienic practice of showering the next morning.
“The next day, I’m in the shower, and I remember saying to him, I get off on the bathmat [and I say], ’I need a shower towel,” she recalled.
“You’re standing on it,” Griffin said Black replied.
“That’s straight guys,” she quipped. “He had one bathmat/towel that he used for both.”
Griffin admitted that she continued to have sexual relations with Black afterward.
Social media users responding to Griffin’s revelation on TikTok were mortified. One commented, “I would literally pass away if that happened to me.”
Another commenter shared their own horror story about men they’ve dated lacking basic products like toilet paper and paper towels.
Griffin admitted to the Herald Sun in 2013 that she’s “not ashamed,” but also “not proud” of her brief tryst with Black in the mid-’90s.
“I remember introducing him to my mum, and my mother said, ‘Oh my god he looks like a serial killer,’” Griffin recalled.
Griffin also touched on their short-lived relationship in her book “Official Book Club Selection: A Memoir According to Kathy Griffin.”
“Another example of getting flack from the boys is what happened when Jack Black dumped me. That’s right. I fucked Jack Black,” she wrote, according to Goodreads.
