GB News presenter halts show to issue apology after major technical blunder

presenter Stephen Dixon was forced to apologise to co-star Aidan McGee after an embarrassing on air gaffe affected how he was reading the news headlines at the top of the hour.

Aidan was reading the news highlights at 8am and was noticeably slow in his delivery. When the camera cut back to studio Stephen was mopping his brow as Ellie Costello looked on and confessed it was his fault.

Laughing he said: “I noticed Aidan was slowing down in his headlines because I wasn’t actually giving him the words to read.

“And then at the very top (of the hour), I do apologise, but the entire production team is laughing at me which is very hard to concentrate when they’re all laughing in your ear,” he said.

Stephen was suposed to control the autocue which Aidan was reading from but he forgot to press the button leading to the on air apology to viewers and his colleague.

“Yesterday Sir flattered President Trump with a historic second state visit, an invitation from the King. said he was honoured by it,” she said.

“I’m just wondering what you thought about that, because in 2017 you signed, and you urged people to please sign and share a petition to prevent from seeking the state visit to the United Kingdom, looking back, do you think you were wrong to do that?” the presenter quizzed him.

“Well I definitely won’t be doing that this time,” red-faced Streeting said in response in a change to his previous stance as he quickly moved on.

He went on to say: “The critical thing is that we build common ground in our national interest as the UK and our collective interests as the UK, the US and the West more generally, and that’s what the invitation is about.”
