Prime Video’s ‘cinematic’ new show with ‘powerful’ lead hailed by audiences

House of David has finally landed, and fans are already sharing their thoughts on the new series that traces the rise of ‘s most renowned king. The brainchild of Jon Erwin, who also brought us Jesus Revolution and I Still Believe, House of David tells the original hero story of David (portrayed by Michael Iskander) and his legendary battle against Goliath (Martyn Ford), reports the .

The series is a product of faith-based production company Wonder Project, with Dallas Jenkins, creator of The Chosen, serving as an advisor. With approximately 200 million global fans, The Chosen is one of the most streamed shows worldwide.

House of David aims to emulate its success, especially as The Chosen gears up for its fifth season launch this Easter. Some viewers have already taken to social media to discuss House of David, with one person posting: “Everyone should watch House of David and leave great 5 star reviews to help spread its reach + share the gospels far and wide [sic].”

Meanwhile, entertainment news outlet Collider rated the show 7/10, noting that House of David “brings the epic scale of the silver screen into a series format”. Movie web praised it as a “Goliath of the show for better or worse” and lauded newcomer Iskander’s portrayal of David as “perfect”.

Comic Book Resources also showered praise on the series, describing Stephen Lang’s performance as Samuel as “astonishing” and commending the show for being a “living, breathing entity”. Movie Guide awarded the show a four-star rating for entertainment quality.

The first three episodes of House of David are currently available on Prime Video, with the remaining five set to be released weekly.
