Michael Bolton spent his 72nd birthday surrounded by family.
In a photo posted on Facebook, Bolton, who is battling brain cancer, sits at a table with daughters Holly and Taryn by his side, and a thick slice of vanilla cake in front of him. The Grammy-winning singer was also joined by three of his six grandkids: Amelia, Olivia and River.
“Spending my birthday filled with love and gratitude,” Bolton wrote. “Wishing you the same, today & everyday!”
Bolton shares daughters Isa, 49, Holly, 47, and Taryn, 45, with his ex-wife Maureen McGuire. The former couple divorced in 1990, after 15 years of marriage. Taryn owns Around the Rosy, a children’s consignment store in Westport, Connecticut, while Isa owns Loved Boutique in a neighboring town. Holly lives in California.
“I love any excuse that allows us all together,” Bolton told People in 2023 of his family. “I’m filled with more love and pride in my girls as they raise their own families. Watching them parent, watching them speaking to their kids. I’m just so proud of them.”
Last year, Bolton announced that he had been diagnosed with a brain tumor that required “immediate surgery.” Bolton did not share additional details about his brain tumor or his symptoms, but added that he would be taking a temporary break from touring.
“It is always the hardest thing for me to ever disappoint my fans or postpone a show, but have no doubt I am working hard to accelerate my recovery and get back to performing soon,” Bolton shared on Instagram in Jan. 2024.
In March 2024, Bolton returned to Instagram to let fans know that he was “healing well and doing better ever day.”
“I’ve been enjoying the company of my daughters and grandkids during this time at home, and practicing on my putting green whenever it’s not raining!” he wrote. “Thank you all so much for the kind messages and I hope to see you very soon!! MB … with lots of time, love and tenderness.”
