has broken his silence after being substituted in the first half of ‘s win over .

Patrick Dorgu’s sending-off left United a man light and Garnacho was the unlucky player to be sacrificed before the break. Instead of walking over to the bench, the youngster stormed straight down the tunnel.

“I’m going to obviously talk with Garnacho about that,” said manager in his post-match press conference. “I will talk about that in the next press conference.”

Garnacho may have made things worse for himself when, after his team-mates pulled off a spirited 3-2 win, he of himself to his story in which he was holding his nose and looked dejected. But on Thursday, 13 hours later, Garnacho posted a which suggested that his tune had changed.

Underneath a picture of the 20-year-old celebrating the goal which put United 2-1 up against the Tractor Boys, it read: “Important 3 points! Team”.

Whether or not that was a reaction to an Amorim talking-to, or in anticipation of his sit-down talk with the manager, is unclear. But fans will be pleased to see Garnacho’s thoughts returning to the team after the odd tone struck by his downbeat post on Wednesday night.

“We had to choose someone to go out,” Amorim explained. “We had to think about set pieces also, so it was Garnacho. The thinking was we’d play more in the 5-3-1. I know that is a risk because you are taking out maybe the only player who has one‑against‑one pace. But I felt the team was OK in controlling the game.”

Amorim’s game management proved to be spot on, as despite Jaden Philogene drawing Ipswich level just before the break, Harry Magurie headed in the winner just after it.

A valuable victory after going three Premier League games without a win moved United up to 14th in the table and well clear of any lingering relegation threat. The Red Devils’ efforts will now turn to their upcoming FA Cup meeting with Fulham, and then a two-legged Europa League tie against Real Sociedad.

Garnacho will be keen to get back amongst the action, with more than half of his goals coming in cup competitions this campaign. But Marcus Rashford can testify that getting on the wrong side of Amorim can leave a player in a sticky situation.
