The actor played cabbie Don Brennan in the soap from 1987 until 1997 – but first appeared in the show in 1963 as another character. Geoffrey also appeared in everything from to A Bridge Too Far.

Now he has left behind more than £300,000, confirming that the majority of the sum will go to his wife Judith Hinsliff. His two daughters, Gaby – a journalist – and Sophie, were named as executors and trustees of the will.

Geoffrey left behind a net value of £333,214 in total, giving £5,000 to his nephew Russell Johnson.

He agreed that the will would be divided equally between his daughters and wife – but if they were to die before him, he made arrangements for his brother Kenneth, sister Jean and two sisters-in-law, Barbara and Dorothy, to receive money.

Geoffrey married Judith in 1967 at St Cecilia’s Church in Little Hadham, Hertfordshire.

He died last September, with his family describing him as “restless, curious, adventurous and funny – he loved nothing better than setting the world to rights around the dinner table.

“But it was family and home that ultimately mattered to him most.”

Gail Platt actress Helen Worth also paid tribute to her co-star, stating: “Geoff was a lovely, quiet man who will be sadly missed by us all.” ITV added: “His partnership with Lynne Perrie was something rather special and they gave the viewers huge pleasure for many years.”
