bosses are keen for Dame Prue Leith to sign up to the show, but there’s one reason why she will never do it.
judge, 85, admitted she can’t resist turning down the chance to appear on big TV programmes, but it’s her family and those closest to her who won’t let her join Strictly.
However, bosses are still hoping they can convince Prue and are “working hard” on making the offer too good for the broadcaster to turn down.
A show insider said: “Strictly bosses are very keen to get Prue Leith on board for the 2025 line-up, and are working hard on making a big money offer.

“Not only is she a big hit with Bake Off fans, they’re hoping she can achieve the same response as Debbie McGee and Angela Rippon, who became the stand out stars of their series.”
They added: “While people like and Zara McDermott are fine contestants, bosses are keen to get a more diverse line-up in, and after , they want older people or those with disabilities to take the forefront to be more relatable to the older viewers.”
But Prue’s loved ones and those closest to her have been forced to step in when these offers come around as they are concerned she might injure herself.

“My family put a stop to Dancing on Ice with cries of, ‘Mum, you can’t dance and are far too old – you’ll break your neck!’ My agent had similar reservations, more politely put, about celebrity Strictly.”
However, she was allowed to take part in The Masked Singer because she managed to keep it quiet from those closest to her.
“My agreeing to The Masked Singer went unchallenged by nannying friends and family, mainly because they didn’t know about it,” she confessed. “Such is the secrecy required, the only member of the family who knew was my husband.”
Prue added: “I pretended to everyone else that I was having singing lessons because I’d wanted to sing forever.”
