Meghan Markle tipped to make Oscars appearance in ‘statement’ move before Netflix release

The much-awaited Oscars red carpet could be the “perfect place” for to promote her upcoming release, , it has been claimed.

A PR expert said if the Duchess of Sussex decides to attend, it would “make a statement” that she is determined to build her new brand away from the royals.

The comments come amid speculation the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could attend the ceremony later this week on Sunday held in Los Angeles this year to “celebrate the work that unites us as a global film community and acknowledge those who fought so bravely

Speaking to a potential appearance PR expert, Lynn Carratt said: “It would show that not only is she focused on building her own brand away from the Royals, especially if she attends solo, but make a statement that she has every intention of reinserting herself back into the world of entertainment in a nod to her past life.”

The PR expert explains it was rumoured the Academy Awards reached out to the duo to attend last year, but the pair were a “no show”, having “no reason” to attend at the time.

Ms Carratt further added: “The Academy Awards red carpet could be the perfect place for Meghan to plug her latest project, especially with the film featuring many of her A-list pals from her days on screen.

“Her appearance at the – the pinnacle of awards season – would definitely have people talking, putting all eyes on her and generating wide scale attention at a key moment for her.

“With only one project left as part of her and Harry’s five-year deal with , attending the Oscars would be a clever PR move by Meghan to boost viewing figures and ensure these final projects are a success.”

Eagle-eyed viewers have since noticed how the Duchess’ teaser seems , titled a similar name – Cooking With Love.

The openings of both trailers include the hosts walking in a garden admiring the produce, before inviting chefs into the kitchens as well as family and friends to try out the delicious meals. In the clips, Pamela says how “I just always have wanted to take things to another level”, while Meghan similarly declares: “I’ve always loved taking something pretty ordinary and elevating it.”

However, defenders of the Duchess insist the closeness of the release dates, and the tight production schedules, could only mean any similarities in the shows are coincidental, rather than deliberate.
