The Duchess of Sussex, 43, has been carefully curating her ensembles to feature elements of her mother-in-law’s style for over a decade and fans are confused by the duplication after Meghan quit as a senior working royal.
Meghan has always insisted she did not research her royal husband before dating him. Talking to Oprah about the Royal Family in a bombshell interview in 2021, Meghan initially said: “Well, I didn’t do any research about what that would mean… I’d never looked up my husband online.”
A Royal fashion enthusiast who goes by the name pointed out over 50 different looks where has donned similar outfits to Princess Diana. He wrote to his 59,000 followers: “I am going to post one last item here and then I will retreat back into my little Royal Fashion Bubble…. I have been meaning to update this for a while now, but last night was the catalyst that I needed. Here is the Diana Cosplay Collage – 2025 Edition,” along with a collage of 58 mirroring outfits.
One user replied and wrote: “I can’t imagine how Harry puts up with this.” While another chimed in: “This is such bizarre behaviour, she clearly needs psychiatric help. So much time and effort you put in Remi x.”
A third wrote: “Thank you for putting this together Remi. It clearly shows how much she cosplays Diana. Those who think it’s just a coincidence need to see this,” penned a third person. However, others felt that Meghan had paid tribute to Diana following her latest look on Monday (February 2024).
after she raised over $1 million for a cancer centre. It is unclear what happened to Diana’s original jumper, but Meghan attended the university that Diana visited and graduated with a double major in theatre and international studies – so it may be her own.
One person shared: “I think it is so lovely that Meghan wears her university jumper. This tribute is a sweet connection.” Another person agreed and said: “This jumper is so cute on her and I love that Diana had the someone.”
Meghan was not on Harry’s radar back in 2012, after all, he was dating his ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas. But that year the duchess chose a Diane Von Furstenberg the USA Network event. Princess Diana wore an extremely similar version for a performance of ‘La Boheme’ in 1996. It featured the same figure-hugging silhouette and detailed lace neckline.

Meghan and Prince Harry went on a Royal tour of South Africa shortly before they stepped down from their duties. In 2019, the couple visited the 225-year-old Auwal Mosque in Bo-Kaap, Cape Town, on South Africa’s Heritage Day – a public holiday celebrating national culture. Her outfit choice was almost identical to Princess Diana’s back in 1992 when she visited Egypt. Meghan not only wore the same cream-coloured headscarf but also donned a khaki dress, just like Diana.

Back in 2016, which was two years after Prince Harry split from Cressida Bonas, Meghan was snapped exiting the Today Show wearing a camera-ready dress in crimson. In 1995, Diana totally left the nation floored when she stepped out in a preppy and ultra-modern white Versace sleeveless dress. Keeping it classy, the mother of Prince Harry decided to accessorise with a pearl necklace and a timeless lady Dior bag, designed in her honour by Christian Dior. During the Sussex’s visit to Australia in 2018, she wore a dress that almost mirrors Diana’s. Not only did it have the same neckline but it also featured the same form-fitting silhouette and sleeveless cut. The only real difference is the hem, as Princess Diana’s was shorter.

One of Princess Diana’s most iconic looks was her Christina Stambolian black, off-the-shoulder gown which was branded as the ‘Revenge Dress’. Diana wore the dress to a dinner at London’s Serpentine Gallery back in 1994 which was the night. This was worn on the same night that Prince Charles admitted to being unfaithful on national television, and her ensemble was considered a symbol of defiance and marked a significant turning point in how she proceeded to dress in public. Back in December, Meghan attended the Paley Honors Gala in Los Angeles. She chose a stunning dress from Oscar de la Rant which featured the same strapless and plunging sweetheart neckline. However, hers was longer and covered her legs. But they made sure her glittering choker necklace was a focus point, just like Diana did.
