ITV Malpractice shares first-look at new cast as critically acclaimed thriller returns

ITV has teased viewers with eight exclusive sneak peeks from the much-anticipated return of its thriller, Malpractice, scheduled to hit screens once again this Spring.

The anthology series, created by Grace Ofori-Attah, saw a successful unveiling in its inaugural season and brings back Helen Behan and Jordan Kouamé as MIU’s dedicated Dr. Norma Callahan and Dr. George Adjei, who find themselves embroiled in another case of alleged malpractice.

This new instalment welcomes fresh talents such as Tom Hughes, Selin Hizli, and Zoë Telford, along with Hannah McClean and Seraphina Beh among others.

Tom Hughes shared his excitement about joining the cast: “I couldn’t be more delighted to be playing James and helping bring to life Grace’s pertinent and important piece, which stopped me in my tracks when I read it. I hope the audience, when they see it, are equally as gripped and engaged by it, as I was.”

In the upcoming episodes, Dr. James Ford, played by Hughes, is an on-call psychiatric registrar facing a dire situation where he must balance a postnatal appointment for a new mother and the critical task of sectioning a patient in psychosis, unravelling a cascade of unforeseen and tragic events.

Later in the series, Norma Callahan and George Adjei from the Medical Investigation Unit (MIU) are brought in to scrutinise Dr. Ford’s actions. Despite his personal life being in chaos and his colleagues finding him arrogant, he appears genuinely committed to his vulnerable patients.

However, as the investigation deepens, it becomes evident that what initially seemed like a series of poor decisions by one doctor could have far-reaching implications within a seemingly chaotic hospital. As the investigation escalates, Dr. Ford is faced with the task of salvaging his already precarious career from seemingly undeniable errors, reports .

Meanwhile, the MIU must unearth the truth, despite facing significant opposition from various quarters. Malpractice has been renewed for a second series by ITV’s Director of Drama, Polly Hill.
