GMB’s Susanna Reid calls out Daniel Mays after major Thursday Murder Club ‘spoiler’

Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid wasted no time calling out actor Daniel Mays, suggesting he had let slip a significant “spoiler” concerning his new television part.

In the episode that aired on Wednesday (February 26), Susanna and her colleague Richard Madeley welcomed the actor who expressed eagerness about working alongside renowned talents in ‘s forthcoming adaptation of ‘The Thursday Murder Club’, based on Richard Osman’s best-selling novel.

The project assembles a glittering lineup for its leap to the screen from the light-hearted murder-mystery tale.

Richard didn’t hesitate to probe Daniel about his role in the series, yet the star kept his cards close to his chest, asserting: “I can’t tell you that yet Richard because they haven’t released who I’m playing.”

But the ‘Line of Duty’ celebrity perhaps revealed too much when he confessed: “I hadn’t read the book.”, reports .

Everyone burst out laughing as Susanna ased: “Was it embarrassing telling Richard that? “. Daniel went on to reflect: “At every airport I was in everyone was reading the book and on the airplane and I was like what is this and now I’m in the movie.”

He further hinted at future prospects, saying: “There is obviously a series of books so hopefully I’ll get a bit of work from it so fingers crossed. What Richard is great at is writing and the script is absolutely brilliant as well. He just knows the characters so well.”

Susanna cheekily noted: “Well I think you might have just done a spoiler because of course if you’re hoping to get more work out of it then it suggests that you haven’t been killed off yet.”

Caught off guard, Daniel responded: “Oh well there we go. You have really thrown me a curveball.” Susanna chimed in: “yeah we have.”

In other entertainment news, Richard Osman offered fans a glimpse into the anticipated reimagining of his bestselling novel.

During The Rest Is Entertainment podcast, which he co-presents with esteemed journalist Marina Hyde, the Pointless savant and author discussed the journey from page to motion picture.

He shared insights from the industry, stating: “I’ve sat in so many meetings where people have said, ‘Of course, we will let you write the script.’ And I had to say, ‘I’m so sorry, I’m writing my next book.’ And also there are so many great scriptwriters out there, so it really depends on what sort of position you’re in.”
