Escape to the Country star forced to intervene after couple’s declaration

In a repeat episode of Escape to the Country that aired on Wednesday (February 26), host Denise Nurse found herself cautioning potential homebuyers after their hasty decision to label a property “a forever home.”

The episode featured Mark and Clare, a married couple on the hunt for their ideal dwelling in the Isle of Skye, Scotland, having sold their previous house. With two daughters in mind, they sought a family-friendly home.

However, upon visiting the first property on Denise’s showcase, both Clare and Mark, particularly Mark, were quickly enamored, envisioning it as their long-term abode.

As Mark expressed his dreams for the property should he become the owner, Denise sensed his attachment and remarked, “I’m sensing a warmth towards this property.”

Clare confirmed, “Yeah definitely! I think this is the first time we’re looking for, what we call a home. I don’t know whether we called anywhere our proper home.”

Yet, Denise interjected cautiously, reminding them that there was more of the property to see and other potentials on her list to consider before jumping to conclusions. She warned the eager couple with the words: “Woah, woah, woah! Steady on there Mark!”

Mark and Clare found that house number one ticked all their boxes. When Denise unveiled the mystery house as a surprise, the couple were eager to see what it had in store, clearly intrigued by its potential.

Despite Denise’s “curveball” with the unexpected option, Mark and Clare stayed true to their initial choice, considering it their top pick. The episode ended on a high note with the couple deciding to put in an offer, looking forward to their next steps.

However, in a twist of fate, Denise later disclosed that their dreams were dashed as another buyer outbid them, leaving their offer unsuccessful.

Escape to the country airs weekdays at 3pm on One.
