Elmo’s Grouchy Post-Nap Update Sparks Hilarious Response On Social Media

Elmo, the beloved “Sesame Street” muppet, isn’t exactly tickled about missing his naptime — and as social media users pointed out, he’s really capturing the 2025 mood.

In a Feb. 24 post on X, formerly Twitter, the muppet’s account wrote, “Elmo is just letting you know that Elmo might be a little grouchy today. Naptime didn’t go as planned.”

The muppet’s skill in expressing his emotions didn’t go unnoticed. One user remarked, “Elmo you communicate better than most adults,” while others chimed in with similar praise.

Others reminded the furry red muppet of the harsh reality we’re currently facing. “We’re all grouchy Elmo. Nothing this year is going as planned,” one user wrote.

Could they be referring to President Donald Trump reaching new levels of hypocrisy, the chaotic firing and rehiring of scientists trying to prevent a national bird flu outbreak, historic wildfires or deadly planecrashes?

While many found Elmo’s lack of rest relatable, one user took it up a notch by ridiculing Elon Musk’s effort to have federal workers list five tasks they’ve completed in the past week or face dismissal. “Did you respond to the email about the 5 things you accomplished last week?” they wrote. Another quipped, “What exactly did Elmo accomplish at his federally subsidized job last week?”

Back in January, Elmo already stirred up social media with his inaugural “ins and outs” list. His “ins” were “smiling more, making friends and learning big words.” However, it was his “outs” that really grabbed the public’s attention: rocks.

Elmo’s long-standing feud with rockscan be traced back to his infamous frustration with Rocco, the pet rock of his best friend, Zoe.
