Nando’s is a household name most Brits have tried, famous for its delicious chicken. However, another chain is gaining popularity with stores popping up across the UK, and now in the Middle East too.
Roosters sells its peri-peri chicken in 45 stores in England, Dublin, and Oman. By blending vibrant flavours from around the world, including Portugal, Lebanon, and Latin America, it’s posing as a strong rival in the fast food world.
A half chicken with fries and a drink at Roosters costs £12, which is £2 cheaper than the same meal at Nando’s.
The competing chain also charges less for a grilled chicken wrap, which is £7, yet the same product is £7.75 from Nando’s.

In their condiment section, a regular-size coleslaw costs just £1.50, more than half the price of the larger chain, which charges £3.75.
Roosters have also ventured further out than just chicken, offering a wider variety than Nandos. It sells lamb doner wraps, milkshakes, fish and veggie burgers. BBQ beans, hash browns and popcorn chicken is available too, selling something for everyone.
The rival company has gained traction over the past few years, with many fast food fans claiming it is “better” and “cheaper” than the long-established chain.
One social media user said: “Roosters chicken in town is the way forward (sorry Nando’s).
“Wings are bigger LOL, taste better, and are cheaper.”

Another chicken lover stated they are “Roosters all the way”. They added: “Thought I would try Nando’s again after so long, the comparison is easy, Nando’s is not good.”
A third simply summarised: “Roosters are better than Nando’s.”
Prices can vary depending on the store’s location, meaning not every Roosters store is cheaper than Nando’s. For example. one item at Nando’s is cheaper is the peri-peri chicken wrap which costs £7.75, yet £7.99 at Roosters.
