Tourists in the Balearic Islands have been urged to take caution as and have been issued a yellow weather warning.
Emporda, Girona, and Menorca in the have both been issued a by Spain’s weather forecaster, AEMET, as an Atlantic front sweeps over the northwest of the country.
Both regions could be at risk of waves up to three metres, while northern and northwesterly winds could race up to 50 to 60km per hour in the coastal destinations.
In Emporda, the warning has been put in place until until 17:00 (18:00pm CET), while the Balearic Islands in Menorca are set to experience respite slightly earlier at 1:00pm (2:00pm CET).

AEMET predicts intervals of strong to very strong gusts in Emporda and the Balearic Islands and in the lower Ebro, a river in the north and northeast of the Iberian Peninsula.
Weather should stabilise towards the end of the day, after the remainder of an Atlantic front passes through the Balearic Islands, the eastern Cantabrian Sea, and the Pyrenees.
The Pyrenees could also experience , at altitudes of around 900 to 1,200 metres.

Due to a fall in temperatures in the area and the Canary Islands, AEMET also signals that frost could increase, affecting mountainous regions in the northern half and southeast of the peninsula.
There are no warnings in place for the Canary Islands at present, and as of Thursday 27 February, the warnings will disappear across the rest of the country.
Due to their warmer weather even in the winter, the Balearics are a holiday destination loved by Brits also in the colder months.
