British Airways was once viewed as the world’s favourite airline, however, it appears to have fallen out of the public’s favour after being named the worst-long haul
In a Which survey of more 9,000 flights BA, along with , came joint bottom out of 19 airlines with a score of 62% showing “how far it has fallen”.
The consumer groups survey asked nearly 8,000 travellers to rank airlines based on things like punctuality, customer service, seat comfort, food and value for money. Which? then merged those findings with delays and cancellation data from the Civil Aviation Authority to compile its final list.
Reacting to the survey, Rory Boland, Which? travel editor, said British Airways’ poor performance in its survey “shows how far it has fallen from the days when it was seen as setting the standards others should aspire to”.

Mr Boland said: “The top performers show it is possible to give passengers good service at a time when delays, cancellations and terrible customer service have become the norm.”
BA scored just two stars out of five in multiple areas, such as seat comfort and value for money, for short- and long-haul journeys.
Hitting back at the survey BA said the research was “entirely at odds with comments from the hundreds of thousands of customers who we know do travel with British Airways and then tell us about their experience”.
A spokesperson added: “There is always room for improvement and we know we don’t always get things right, but we’re proud of the progress we’re making and will continue to focus on delivering the best possible service for our customers.”

Which? also found that British Airways had high levels of last-minute cancellations, with around 2% of flights cancelled within 24 hours of departure, according to Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) data.
The national carrier was also rated 12th out of 16 carriers for short-haul travel, with Ryanair finishing bottom.
Singapore Airlines was considered to be the top airline for long-haul flights – with a score of 81% – while Jet2 came first for short-haul journeys with a score of 80%.
Jet2 was the best-performing short-haul airline for an impressive fourth year in a row and had among the lowest rate of last-minute cancellations of any airline.
