BBC Gardener’s World star Monty Don shares huge update on show’s future

BBC star has excited fans with an update from his garden in Herefordshire. The 69-year-old presenter shared that brand new episodes of will be hitting screens very soon – with filming set to begin next week.

Sharing a snap of his spacious garden to looking mossy and cold, with the remenants of winter’s frost evident, the keen green-thumb wrote: “The Jewel garden – stripped of almost all last years planting but with the exciting addition yesterday of some large clippedhornbeam balls.”

The star then gave an unexpected update on Gardener’s World as he added: “We will gradually replant it over the coming few months and share the process via Gardeners World – and filming begins again next week!”

Fans were over the mood with the “exciting” update as they shared their eagerness to tune in to the new series of the much-loved show. One commenter said: “Exciting! Thank you for continuing to share your garden with us.”

Another posted: “Can not wait!!” Meanwhile a third penned: “Wow sooo exciting – always appreciate your posts thank you so much.”

Monty previously opened up on life behind the scenes of the scenic show. He even admitted that some scenes are “faked”.

In Gardeners’ World magazine, he explained: “We start filming the new series at the beginning of March. Filming takes place on a Tuesday and Wednesday.

“So, when I go round the garden prior to the meetings, I am weighing up what will be relevant in three weeks’ time, as well as what is looking at its best.”

“I also list the real-life garden jobs I want to get on with,” he added. “The production team then converts this plan into a filming schedule while I brief my team in the garden.”

In a cheeky confession, the gardening expert also shared: “Last October, the leaves were immaculately raked and taken to the leafmould bay, but we wanted to film the process, so I had to scatter them over the grass again, ready for filming.”

The confession comes after doubt was cast over Monty’s future on the show, with fans’ minds put at ease when he told the Radio Times: “I never make plans beyond two years, but I agreed to do another two.”
