Vancouver, Abbotsford police probe separate pedestrian collisions

A pedestrian was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition Monday after being struck at the Vancouver intersection of Cambie and Broadway on Monday.

A pedestrian was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition Monday after being struck at the Vancouver intersection of Cambie and Broadway on Monday.

The collision took place around 6:30 a.m. Monday and forced the temporary closure of the intersection while police investigated.

The intersection was later reopened around 8 a.m.

According to Sgt. Steve Addison, the pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

“Our Collision Investigation Unit has been assigned and will work to determine the cause of the collision,” said Addison in an email. “At this time, we have not reached any conclusions.”

Meanwhile, Abbotsford Police are releasing footage of a pedestrian-involved collision from December in hopes of locating additional witnesses.

According to police, the 20-year-old pedestrian was crossing Townline Road and Upper Maclure Road on Dec. 13 when they were struck by a vehicle.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries via air ambulance, while the driver remained on scene and co-operated with police.

Investigators are now hoping any witnesses who may have been in the area and did not speak with police that day will come forward to share their account of the collision.

Abbotsford police are releasing footage of the moments leading up to the collision in hopes that those who recognize the pedestrian or the vehicle will contact investigators at 604-859-5225.
