Toyota teases compact crossover EV, for reveal March 11

The little all-electric looks to be a production version of the bZ Compact SUV Concept revealed in 2022

  • Toyota will reveal a new all-electric compact crossover on March 11, 2025
  • A teaser image suggests it may be the production version of the 2022 BZ Compact SUV Concept
  • The model is expected to be smaller and lower than the existing BZ4X SUV

The teaser image showcases a fastback-style roofline, hidden rear door handles, sculpted fenders, and an elevated stance. The automaker also highlights spaciousness, comfort, and versatility, suggesting the vehicle will target urban and suburban drivers.

Because we’re all thinking about it, the BZ compact will be about 150 mm longer and almost the exact same height as the defunct and short-lived CH-R.

Toyota has not yet confirmed technical specifications such as battery capacity or power output. However, reports suggest it could offer battery options similar to Toyota’s Urban Cruiser EV, which features 49- and 61-kWh packs.

The new model is part of Toyota’s broader EV plans, once known as the Beyond Zero (bZ) initiative. The initiative is expected to introduce 30 dedicated BEVs globally by 2030. We say “once known” because the company has hinted it’s revising its electric-vehicle naming strategy, meaning this crossover may not carry the “bZ” moniker.

Toyota will officially reveal the new electric crossover on March 11 at 23:01 GMT. Further details, including specifications and market availability, are expected at the launch event.
