Olly from Essex, Michelle from Northampton, Carl from and Laura from Bristol were all on top form with their cash builder rounds, getting off to a promising start. However, as the show went on and they faced up to The Chaser the team quickly dwindled with them being caught one by one.

Eventually all four players were caught meaning that no one had secured a place in the Final Chase – leaving fans at home absolutely fuming.

Posting to X (formerly Twitter), fans shared their complaints. One fumed: “Think it’s fair to say that #thechase has died it’s death now and needs to be removed or the design of it needs a revamp.”

Another added: “All four players out! Useless team tonight with zero brain cells whatsoever! Why have the last few episodes of The Chase been complete and utter disaster? ITV should be ashamed of themselves! #TheChase.”

However, not everyone agreed and some rushed to defend the much-loved quiz show. One penned: “#TheChase is a very clever show with several entertaining elements, plus star-quality experts named ‘Chasers’, all of whom are now household names in their own right. I find it hard to see how this quiz show can be bettered. I don’t think it can quite frankly…”

Fortunately for the players the ‘Lazarus’ rule was then introduced to the game – meaning that one contestant was brought back to play on behalf of the team.

It was Olly who was put in the hot seat, but sadly after several push backs he was caught once more and the whole team left the ITV show empty handed.

Chaser Paul Sinha recently admitted that The Chase might not “survive” without Bradley Walsh as presenter. Speaking to Stuff, the quizzer shared: “Perhaps most importantly of all, we never forget that it is an entertainment show and to that end we are blessed with Bradley Walsh, one of the brightest stars of the light entertainment firmament.

“I think there are some shows that can’t survive without that particular host. Should Bradley Walsh, as he will do eventually, decide that his acting career comes first, The Chase won’t survive.”
