Stephen Graham has carved out his place as a television and film stalwart, appearing in some of the most acclaimed dramas—and his wife, Hannah Walters, is often not far from the action.
The latest project to showcase Graham’s talents is A Thousand Blows, recently launched on , which delves into the gritty world of 1880s figures such as boxer Hezekiah Moscow (Malachi Kirby) and fearsome gang leader Mary Carr (Erin Doherty).
Steven Knight, the creative genius behind Peaky Blinders, introduces us to another pivotal character: the formidable boxer Henry “Sugar” Goodson, brought to life by Stephen Graham himself.
Despite the demands of filming, Graham’s partner, both on-screen and off, Walters, maintains close proximity as their professional paths frequently intertwine.
Hannah Walters might not be clashing with Graham in many scenes, but she certainly makes her mark in A Thousand Blows, portraying a member of the Forty Elephants gang named Eliza.

Having first crossed paths with her now-husband at Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance, Walters made an impression alongside him in the iconic Channel 4 series This Is England.
Initially credited as a “shoe shop assistant”, she later took on the role of Trudy throughout the saga, whilst Graham continued as the thug Combo.
In Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, where Graham appeared as pirate Scrum, Walters played a background part as “woman at The Captain’s Daughter” in 2011.
She later returned to the franchise in Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017), embodying Beatrice, sister to Ken Radley’s pirate character Pierre “Pig” Kelly.
Over the last seven years, the 49-year-old actress has frequently shared the screen with her husband, with her roles becoming increasingly substantial.
As her spouse played wrestler Mark Bolton in ‘Walk Like A Panther’, she took on the character of Gloria Giles.

In the ‘s ‘Boiling Point’, while he donned the chef’s hat as head chef Andy, she was cast as pastry chef Emily.
Their collaboration extended to the acclaimed drama ‘Time’, where she played Eric McNally’s wife, Sonia McNally, and both starred and served as executive producers, similarly as with ‘Boiling Point’.
Though Walters often teams up with her other half, she also shines independently, having appeared in ‘Whitechapel’, ‘Code of a Killer’, ‘No Offence’, and ITV’s ‘Malpractice’.
Graham has openly expressed his gratitude for his wife’s role in guiding his career, admitting during the BAFTA Sessions panel: “I’m dyslexic, so I struggle. My missus actually reads the script and says whether or not I’m doing it. She’s made some good choices.
“I have to read it and read it and read it, then make it look like it’s the first time I’m saying it.”
