Netflix You fans go wild as season 5 trailer finally drops with chilling message

Netflix viewers have been on tenterhooks for updates about You season five ever since its fourth installment hit the screens in March 2023, and now, the streaming giant has unveiled a tantalising new teaser that’s got everyone talking.

Released today (February 25), the trailer has sent fans into a frenzy. The sneak peek kicks off with Joe Goldberg, portrayed by Penn Badgley, staring into a mirror as his girlfriend Kate appears and requests his help to unbuckle her necklace.

Accompanying the visual, Joe’s voice can be heard: “Love tests us, I’ve been tested more than most. I came from nothing, a true rags to riches story, I’ve been through it all.”

He continues, “Unlucky in life and in love until I met you. Kate you opened doors for me I could never have imagined, we share a life,” reports .

The trailer climaxes with announcing the premiere date, revealing that the fifth and much-awaited final season will drop on April 24.

The comments on YouTube were immediately swamped with excited responses from fans. One user exclaimed: “Omg, I can’t wait for this show to come back on, I love this show so I’m totally ready.”

The upcoming season, consisting of 10 episodes, will see Joe returning to his New York roots in an attempt to lead a tranquil life, but his perilous past threatens to disrupt everything. In addition to Penn, the season will feature Charlotte Richie reprising her role as Joe’s girlfriend Kate Galvin, along with three fresh faces joining the cast.

Madeline Brewer is set to portray Bronte, a mysterious and free-spirited playwright who becomes an employee of Joe. Anna Camp will be seen in a dual role as Raegan Lockwood and Maddie Lockwood, while Griffin Matthews will bring to life the character of Teddy Lockwood.

Originally slated for a 2024 premiere, season five was postponed due to the 2023 Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes. The series first aired on Lifetime in September 2018 before transitioning to for its second season in 2019. Over the years, the show has garnered a loyal fanbase, becoming one of the most viewed original series in the US between December 2019 and December 2020.
