M25 crash: Huge traffic delays after ‘multi-vehicle collision’ on motorway

The M25 has reopened following a crash that involved several vehicles.

Emergency services and National Highways officers were called to the M25 clockwise in Surrey, at Junction 14 () following a serious collision that resulted in casualties.

All four lanes were closed causing severe congestion for several miles, before being fully opened shortly after 5.30pm.

National Highways warns of severe delays following the reopening of the lanes and has advised motorists to factor in additional time for their journies.

South west ambulance service have been contacted for comment regarding the status of the casualties.

All lanes now open

National Highways have confirmed that all lanes are now open following an earlier collision.

They warn of congestion of 4 miles, advising travellers to factor in additional time to their journies.

Where did the accident happen?

The accident happened near juntion 14 clockwise, close to Staines and .

Emergency services are on scene attending to casualties as essential recovery work is also being conducted.

‘Lanes 1 and 2 now open’

Two lanes have now opened to ease congestion, with lanes three and four remaining closed following the accident.

Delays of 25 minutes

National Highways estimates that the collision and subsequent lane closures will lead to “3 miles congestion” and delays of 25 minutes on top of regular travel time.

National Highways confirms ‘casualties’

In a statement, National Highways has confirmed that there are casualties following a multi-vehicle collision on the M25.

A spokesperson said: “There are long delays on the M25 clockwise in Surrey with J14 () due to a multi vehicle collision.

Emergency services are working on casualties at scene. National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene to assist with traffic management.

Lanes 2,3 and 4 are closed on the carriageway with lane 1 open past the scene.

There are currently 90 minute delays above normal journey time. There are 5 miles congestion on approach.

Road users are advised to plan their journeys in advance, allow extra time and consider alternative routes if possible.
