Unforgotten fans were quick to identify a significant ‘plot hole’ as the riveting drama concluded. The popular ITV show once again held viewers spellbound as DCI Jessie James and DI Sunny Khan delved deeper into their investigation of intricate cold cases.
The pair led audiences on another exhilarating journey, probing into Gerry Cooper’s murder. In last night’s episode, Gerry’s remains were unearthed on Whitney Marsh, and it was subsequently disclosed that he is the vanished spouse of Juliet Cooper.
Juliet was left bewildered when her husband mysteriously vanished one day, leading her to suspect that individuals from his past were implicated.
However, it was revealed that Gerry had been living a double life, finding himself in debt during the pandemic. Yet, the identity of his murderer remained ambiguous, with numerous suspects under scrutiny.
Juliet later admitted to experiencing marital issues with Gerry on the night of his demise. She disclosed that they had a heated disagreement and she unintentionally stabbed Gerry as he assaulted her, reports .

She alleged that Gerry bled out while she took refuge in the bathroom, and she later disposed of his body. However, Jessica highlighted discrepancies in Juliet’s timeline, making it clear that Juliet was not being truthful,.
Jessica and Sunny managed to interview Juliet’s daughter, Taylor, who eventually confessed that she had stabbed her father in the leg to safeguard her mother.
Jessica was informed by the CPS that charging either Taylor or Juliet for Gerry’s death would not serve the public interest, leading to no arrests in the case. Yet, viewers at home were quick to express their disbelief at the decision, taking to social media to voice their opinions.
One perplexed viewer posted on X, previously known as Twitter: “Surely this is a ‘bit’ of a plot hole. CPS don’t feel it’s in the public interest that she chopped up a body, dumped it into the marsh and claimed the 400k in life insurance ? ? ? Murder and fraud, she’s had a right result. Glad she didn’t type a mean meme as well.”

Another chimed in: “So if a son had killed the mother (manslaughter) and the father cut up and disposed of the body the CPS would have said “not in the public interest. “”.
A third added their voice to the chorus of disbelief: “#unforgotten can killing someone, chopping up their body, disposing of the body parts and then cashing in a life policy ever deemed to be “not in the public interest” for prosecution by the CPS? “.
Echoing the sentiment, another stated: “So you can just cut someone up and dispose of the pieces, with no come back. A very moral tale. #unforgotten”.
And one more viewer questioned the plausibility of the scenario: “I have one major question, could a small framed woman have the strength to drag a body around room to room, then cut it up with a “carving knife” and carry it to car in a holdall? ? ? I don’t think that’s possible #unforgotten”.
Unforgotten season 6 is now available to stream in full on ITVX. Episodes also air weekly on ITV1 every Sunday and Monday at 9pm
