Viewers of ITV’s popular gameshow, The Chase, were left seething after what they described as an “absolutely shocking” episode following another disappointing performance.
Host Bradley Walsh returned with a new group of contestants hoping to win big on the Tuesday afternoon show (February 25).
Despite the hopeful start, things quickly took a turn for the worse. In the episode, contestant Ash started off promisingly, securing £6,000 when up against TV brainiac Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha.
However, when the second and third players, Kelsey and Catherine, were caught by the Chaser, it was up to the fourth contestant, Max, to display his knowledge. Opting for the lower offer of £1,000, Max’s decision irritated many viewers.
But it was Ash and Max’s sluggish performance in the final chase that really got under some viewers’ skin. When faced with Bradley’s rapid-fire questions, Ash and Max hesitated significantly before answering.

Ultimately, they only managed to correctly answer nine questions between them. After witnessing Ash and Max’s lacklustre performance in the final, fans flocked to X to voice their opinions, reports .
One viewer commented: “Absolutely shocking. They spent more time staring into space.”
Another wrote: “Asks question, five-second pause, buzz in, pass.” A third added: “In your own time lads.”
“Emergency Services on alert after a massive car crash Final Chase,” commented one viewer.

In the midst of disappointment, another watcher remarked: “Oh goodness, fingers crossed for tomorrow.” Yet, it was the slew of low offers throughout the game that also sparked viewer outrage.
With numerous participants taking the less risky path to reach the final round, annoyance has been escalating among the audience. A frustrated fan posted online: “What!!! Not Again!! This has gone completely out of control! £1,000 LOW OFFER TAKEN! After last Friday when everyone took the LOW and the episode before Two MINUS offers! What a disgrace and embarrassment for ITV! How long is this going to go on for? I HAVE HAD ENOUGH!”
However, during today’s episode, there was a sentiment among some fans that contestant Kelsey perhaps made the right choice in accepting a lower offer of £100 instead of opting for the £1,000 she eventually secured.
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV1.
