Emmerdale fans were left heartbroken as the beloved character Amy Wyatt met her tragic end in the popular ITV soap. The recent episodes saw the village plunged into chaos after a catastrophic limo crash resulted in the deaths of Suzy Merton, Leyla Harding, and Amy.

In a gripping turn of events, Amy plummeted into an icy lake and despite being rescued, she succumbed to her injuries in hospital. Natalie Ann Jamieson, who portrayed Amy, discussed the harrowing scenes on Hits Radio West Yorkshire, where host Rosie Madison highlighted a ‘plot hole’.

Reflecting on the storyline, Natalie remarked: “Two limos going out for a lovely night out, sounds brilliant, but then ooh one swerves to miss a lorry and the other one crashes straight into ice. Into the ice goes Amy Wyatt.”

She continued, jesting about the teasers: “There had been teasers for ages for like going: ‘Who is that hand?’, everybody was going: ‘Well, it’s definitely a man’s hand!’ and I was like: ‘Hm, definitely a man’s hand!’… it was me all along!”

Yet, Rosie quickly interjected with a critique: “Can I just say when we were watching, we were shouting at the telly because there was a few things that we’ve all been trained that if you ever fell through ice. One… you never walk on ice but two if you ever fell through you take your clothes off, you strip down!”

Natalie responded with a laugh: “Yep! I was sodden, do you know what though? I just don’t know that they would have let us do that at 7:30pm at night! I did say do you want me to” causing the studio to erupt in laughter.

This comes after Natalie was moved to tears while watching her character’s exit from the ITV soap on Friday’s episode of Lorraine.

On Thursday night, Amy tragically died in hospital after falling into an icy lake following a limo crash, which also claimed the lives of two other villagers – Suzy and Leyla.

It was an emotional moment for Natalie as she re-watched the scene, telling host Christine Lampard: “It was very traumatic. We watched it in the hotel because I knew I was coming here this morning. It was a very, very sad episode.”

She went on to say, “It wasn’t to be for Amy, but what a way to go! What an episode, what an exit”, revealing how long she has known about her soap exit: “I’ve known for a long, long time, but I just think it’s so special.

“So when you don’t have spoilers for things like this, and when it comes as a surprise for the audience, and they get to watch it in real-time, there’s just something magical about it, so I was really keen to try and keep it under wraps.”

continues Monday to Friday at 7:30pm on ITV and ITV X with an hour-long special on Thursdays.
