‘I was on The Chase and this is what Bradley Walsh is really like’

has been at the helm of since 2009, introducing countless contestants to the challenge of beating the Chasers’ general knowledge to walk away with a big cash prize.

A former contestant called Alexander recently took to social media to share his experience behind the scenes of the quiz show. He told curious fans he was willing to answer any of their questions.

One user asked what makes the contestants always say they’ve had an amazing day on the show, and Alexander was quick to share his thoughts. He explained that the environment on set is much more relaxed than many might expect.

He wrote: “The crew is super friendly, and it’s surprisingly quite a relaxed environment. You get a lot of time to get to know your team.

“The studio is well furnished, and you get free tea/coffee all day, which is a nice extra. Going down to London, filming for TV, and meeting someone like Bradley and the Chasers is also a very novel experience.”

He also let fans know that the contestants’ expenses are covered, including a £15 meal allowance. Alexander joked about having made a £3 ‘profit’ from his appearance on the programme as he only spent £12 on food.

The contestant also revealed that the filming process is incredibly efficient, with the production team recording three episodes per day.

Because of this tight schedule, there wasn’t a great deal of time for players to interact with Bradley Walsh, but Alexander assured fans that the TV legend was every bit as charismatic in person.

He shared: “He [Bradley] was just as nice in real life. What surprised me is that he swore a bit, and they just edited that out. The joking around is pretty much nonstop, and it’s a chill atmosphere.”

While Alexander had a great time on the show, the episode itself didn’t sit well with viewers. Fans of The Chase were left by Chaser Darragh ‘The Menace’ Ennis, leading some to complain that the quality of players had dropped.

Social media was flooded with reactions, with one viewer tweeting: “Ffs – another low offer … This show is going downhill fast. The producers need to sort it out & fast … it’s losing its appeal.”

Another added: “I do wish the producers of #TheChase would choose more competent players. Make it better TV.”

Despite all four contestants being caught, the final chase still went ahead, with Alexander stepping up to represent the team for a last-ditch effort to win £4,000. Unfortunately, he too was caught, making for a rare episode where not a single contestant took home any prize money.
