Emmerdale star Joe-Warren Plant has appreared to confirm that the show’s recent addition Joshua John, who portrayed Rich Thompson, has already exited the ITV soap just a few weeks after his character’s introduction.
Rich, a friend and fellow medical trainee of Plant’s alter ego Jacob Gallagher, first appeared on screen last month. The villagers have shown mixed reactions to Jacob’s new acquaintance, with some sceptical about Rich.
Joe-Warren addressed these doubts, saying: “They have a lot in common doing the same job. The pressures that brings opens people up to coping mechanisms that can go down the wrong path. I think both of them struggle with that in a sense. I think Jacob can be easily led.”
Speaking further about the dynamic between the two characters, he noted, “Rich is a good friend to Jacob but there’s a lot of things in-between. They are not exactly built on the same morals. Jacob is always quite a nice and fairly behaved lad.”
Joe-Warren also touched on Jacob’s current storyline: “Jacob has a lot going on. To let off steam, he’s been taking it down the wrong path and I think his friends do have a little bit to play in that role.”, reports Leeds Live.
