In the forthcoming episodes, David Platt, a mainstay of the soap since 1990, discovers that his adversary Harvey Gaskell plans to kill him for his life insurance to settle his debts.
Spoilers reveal David learning this shocking news while being threatened with a knife by Andy as he locks up the salon. Later in the week, a heart-wrenching twist sees David in the hospital fighting for his life in a flash-forward scene.
Before this, Nick Tilsley and Shona Platt express worry for David when they spot him drinking vodka at lunchtime. Concurrently, Daisy Midgeley and her stepmother Jenny Connor argue after Jenny lets Daniel Osbourne believe that Daisy’s baby is his, hoping he can help them pay their pub debts to Carla Connor.
At the pub, while David drowns his sorrows, Kit Green pulls Daniel aside and suggests he ask Daisy for proof that the baby is indeed his, leaving Jenny uncomfortable. It isn’t long before Daniel confronts Daisy and insists she swears on.

Meanwhile, a confused David stumbles out onto the road, unaware of the impending danger that looms ahead.
Just at that moment, Shona bursts onto the scene, her heart racing as she spots David standing bewildered in the middle of the slick road. A car hurtles toward him, as Shona rushes through heavy fog to try and save him.
