An American couple who love to travel have given their honest thoughts on the “UK’s friendliest city”.
Jeremy and Cara – who run The Magic Geekdom Youtube channel – had been to Merseyside before where they toured both The Beatles Story Museum and Liverpool Cathedral.
But they decided to return to check out more tourist hotspots and also to see whether Scousers deserve their amiable reputations. Below we highlight three things that made it an unforgettable trip.
The people
After going for a second time, the husband and wife became even more grateful to the people of the seaport city.

And speaking about the amicable staff inside one restaurant (Mowgli), Cara told her 71,000 subscribers: “Liverpool won yesterday so apparently everyone is in an extra good mood but I do have to say I feel like the people here in Liverpool are so proud of their city and everyone here is so friendly and it makes for a more enjoyable experience.”
She also said workers inside Wilkinson Cameras recognised them from YouTube and offered tourist recommendations like the Central Library.
And Cara explained how an Uber driver was affable and chatty and gave his own tips. She said: “Our Uber driver was just showing us all the filming locations like Fast and the Furious and some Samuel Jackson movie but we are actually going to go inside a building (Liver Building) that he told us was the filming location for the Robert Pattinson Batman – that’s cool, that’s fun!”
And although the weather in the north of England is not usually something to celebrate, Cara told viewers: “For a winter’s day I am surprised by how pleasant and lovely it is here on the water.

“I was expecting for us to get down here and for it to be crazy windy and just all kinds of weather mishaps but no it is so nice.” Her husband, Jeremy, replied: “It is a little cold but other than that it is nice.”
Bold Street
The couple also spent time in Bold Street which is famously home to independent businesses and the Church of St Luke (also known as ‘bombed-out church’ since the Blitz) where they also explored.
Cara mentioned that their followers recommended they try Mowgli’s, an Indian chain restaurant that started on Bold Street. There, they enjoyed the Yoghurt Chat Bombs and the Tea-Steeped Chickpeas and Agra Ginger Chicken dishes.
“Fantastic experience,” Cara said. “Probably the fanciest Indian food we have had here in the UK but definitely something I would consider splurging on again sometimes and the service was great too.”

And as for Bold Street itself, she added: “What a cool street. It definitely feels like this is more of a place locals hang out and roam about in which I feel we didn’t really get to experience as much the last time we were here.”
Metropolitan Cathedral
Previously, Jeremy and Cara went to Liverpool Cathedral, and this time they decided to take a look inside the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King Liverpool.
It was one of the best parts of their trip and Jeremy said: “It is very pretty and unlike any other church or cathedral I’ve been.”
Cara, speaking about the largest Catholic cathedral in England, agreed, saying: “It is so cool, look at the giant stained glass at the top, that is amazing. It is absolutely stunning and I can see why people, despite the Liverpool Cathedral being nearby, also come to this one because it is unique in its own way and honestly gorgeous, stunning.”

After on YouTube, one fan commented: “Some cities have a positive mojo, and from what I’ve seen, Liverpool is one. I only spent 48 hours there, but everyone I met was cheerful and hilarious. No doubt it has its dark side like any place else, but there is something about the Scouse spirit that stands out.”
A second said: “Spent 15 years in the pool. Love it. Left for a new job, but I plan to move back when I retire.”
And a third wrote: “Liverpool is a very friendly place. I love to go there and always feel welcome.”
