Warning to return 19 supermarket cheeses for refund with ‘no receipt needed’ – full list

Supermarket shoppers are being warned to return cheese for a full refund with ‘no receipt needed’.

A batch of cheese products sold at major supermarkets including and Spar has been urgently recalled by the Food Standards Agency over the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

The Food Standards Agency warned that Listeria can cause ‘flu like symptoms’ as well as high temperature, muscle aches and pains, sickness or diorrhea. It added that in rare cases it can even cause meningitis.

Shoppers are being urged to check their fridges for any of the affected products which match the best before date and package size.

The FSA warned: “The possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes in the above products.

“Symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea. However, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis.

“Some people are more vulnerable to Listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.”

The Food Standards Agency added: “If you have bought the above products do not eat them. Instead, return them to where they were purchased for a full refund. Any customers with queries or concerns can contact JOD Food Products on 00353 6371209.

“Please return the affected products to store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required.”
