The words ‘beautiful’ and ‘airport’ don’t tend to go hand in hand, but step inside this architechtural marvel and you will soon see why.

Samui International Airport (USM), located in Koh Samui, is unlike any typical international airport.

The airport features thatched-roof pavilions, wooden walkways, and beautifully landscaped gardens, creating a tropical resort ambiance.

Often dubbed “the most beautiful in the world,” it is more than just a transit hub—it feels like an extension of a high-end island resort, making the travel experience luxurious and enjoyable from start to finish.

A social media influencer, , who visited the airport, shared his visit on and called it “one of the most unique airports in the world.”

He said “You’ll find these amazing little cafes and these beanbags where you can just sit down, relax, and chill. And if that’s not enough, they also have swings, a river, and a lot of nature too.”

The airport features a spa where passengers can get massages to relieve stress before their flight. This enhances the travel experience, making it feel more like a resort visit than a traditional airport wait.

A ‘courtesy corner’ near the boarding gate provides complimentary drinks and snacks, adding a hospitable touch for travelers.

Instead of boarding through enclosed jet bridges or crowded buses, passengers use open-air transport carts to reach their planes. This creates a leisurely and scenic transition between the terminal and aircraft.

The airport’s runway is surrounded by palm trees and offers stunning views of Koh Samui’s turquoise waters and beaches upon landing and takeoff.

Privately owned by Bangkok Airways, the airport has a premium shopping area called Samui Park Avenue, offering boutique stores, cafés, and lounges, catering to high-end travellers.

With minimal enclosed spaces, the airport allows travellers to enjoy the fresh air and the island breeze, much like a beachfront resort.
