The mainstay delighted viewers with fresh images on this Wednesday, offering an exclusive glimpse behind the scenes of his hit programme New Zealand’s Best Homes, which originally aired last summer.
At 55, Phil appeared to be back in action with the Kiwis, capturing new episodes, and decided to bring his teenage son along for the exciting journey.
In the premier snapshot, Phil is seen striking a pose with his 18-year-old lad Jake while on set for the series. Donning his signature suit and denim ensemble, Phil chose a classy navy blazer paired with a vibrant pink shirt while holding a coffee cup and flashing a joyful grin.
Next to him, a more relaxed Jake sported a cosy grey sweatshirt atop a shirt, teamed with chinos shorts, and his trusty, well-scuffed white trainers. As filming briefly intermitted, Jake grasped a clapperboard, with a cameraman poised near the lookalike pair.
Kirstie Allsopp’s on-screen colleague offered up an abundant array of snaps detailing exquisite homes and landscapes, not to mention several additional charming photographs with his offspring. Others chimed in, complementing Zake with remarks like “Handsome young man – takes after his dad. Have a lovely time.”
Another sentiment shared was “Amazing and your son is the image of you…as he would be I suppose,” while the similarity didn’t go unnoticed with one fan adding: “Your son is your double.”
The playful banter continued with another fan quipping, “He’s a chip off the old block hey?”.
Phil, who is married to Australian-born Fiona Spencer, won her heart over in 1995 and convinced her to move to the UK, culminating in their wedding in 2001. They’ve since made Hampshire their home and have another son, 15-year-old Ben.
Tragedy struck the family when Phil’s elderly parents, Richard and Anne, were taken too soon in a car crash in August 2023 en route to a pub lunch close to their residence.
In the wake of the terrible event, Phil expressed the poignant reflection that his family found solace in the fact that they departed this life together, stating: “As a family we are all trying to hold onto the fact Mum and Dad went together and that neither will ever have to mourn the loss of the other one. Which is a blessing in itself,” He later revealed, poignantly recalling his mother’s words: “Mum said to me only a week ago that she had resigned to thinking ‘now it looks like we will probably go together’. And so they did. That was what God had planned for them – and it was a good plan.”
