A huge fire erupted in Greater Manchester near Wythenshawe and Timperley on Sunday morning.
Several photos and videos posted on X showed plumes of smoke and flames rising from the site.
Several residents described hearing “popping” sounds or “explosions” after the blaze begun.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) later confirmed that the fire involved heavy goods vehicles.
In a statement they said: “Shortly after 8.15am on Sunday 23 February, 10 fire appliances from across Greater Manchester were called to attend a fire involving heavy goods vehicles on Ennis Close, Manchester.
“Crews arrived quickly and are working hard to extinguish the fire. Several nearby properties have been evacuated.
“Greater Manchester Police and North West Ambulance Service are also in attendance.”

Majority of the fire extinguished but residents still warned
Most of the fire has now been extinguished, Greater Manchester & Fire Rescue Service has said.
In an update they said: “Firefighters have now extinguished the majority of the fire using hose reels, jets and breathing apparatus.
“The incident is now being scaled back. Four fire engines remain at the scene. Nearby residents are still advised to keep their windows and doors shut.”

According to online traffic reporting system Inrix, Floats Road is closed in both directions due to the lorry fire from Ledson Road to Claverton Road.

Fire understood to be on Roundthorn Industrial Estate
Based on the online reports, it is understood that the fire is on or around the Roundthorn Industrial Estate.
The area is covered by heavy smoke with Wythenshawe Hospital nearby.
Looks like a warehouse is on fire. Explosions like gas canisters blowing up. My son sent me this.
