shared a snap of his bloodied foot following 2-0 victory away to Las Palmas on Saturday night as the debate around La Liga referees continues to rage on.

Yamal has captured the imagination of the footballing world ever since breaking onto the scene as a 16-year-old last season.

His performances for Barcelona earned him a call-up to the Spanish national side, where he helped La Roja to a third European Championship title.

England fans know all too well what damage the teenager can do, given he provided the assist for team-mate Nico Williams’ opener in the Euro 2024 final.

Since being crowned champions of Europe, Yamal has continued his stellar form with club side Barcelona, netting 11 goals and providing 16 assists across all competitions with the Catalan club.

But the 17-year-old was handed an injury scare during the clash with Las Palmas when he discovered his foot was covered in blood following the full-time whistle.

Taking to social media to share his ordeal, the Barcelona ace posted a photo of his foot covered by the sock, with blood having seeped through, accompanied by the caption: “No foul?!”

Barcelona required two second-half goals from Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres to win the La Liga clash, with Yamal having been on the end of some rough treatment throughout.

The result took Barcelona back to the top of the La Liga table, one point clear of second-placed Atletico Madrid and three in front of rivals , who have a game in hand.

The irony of Yamal’s post wasn’t lost on some Spanish football fans though, as it comes amid an ongoing debate around the referee standards in La Liga.

Reigning Spanish and European champions Real Madrid have claimed they’ve been on the end of some unfair decisions from the officials in recent weeks.

Such has been the controversy surrounding the saga, the league’s president weighed in, accusing the Madrid-based outfit of creating controversy.

Speaking to The Objective, Javier Tebas said: “We’ve had a lot of controversy over refereeing in recent weeks. The federation is not looking for a solution. Real Madrid TV, Real Madrid, are creating controversy and writing a false story and putting all of football into question.

“All the clubs are complaining, but Madrid are putting the spotlight on it. It’s an aggressive, verbal and manipulated story.

“I know a lot of Real Madrid fans who don’t agree with Real Madrid, which is a whiny club, it cries all day long. They cry for the weekend, they will cry for the following weekend and it’s all the fault of a conspiracy.”
