Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean are set to dazzle fans with their final performance on , bringing an end to a remarkable five-decade long skating career.

The dynamic duo moved the audience to tears with their emotional final skate on the skating show as they marked their official retirement from the rink. The Olympic gold medalists shot to fame when they skated to victory at the 1984 Winter Olympics with their unforgettable Bolero routine. 

With the anticipation mounting for their Our Last Dance UK arena tour, Torvill and Dean performed their farewell piece, tailor-made for the Dancing on Ice finale, which will also be featured in their upcoming tour performances. Due to timing demands, they had to pre-record this special act, giving them the chance to perfect every aspect meticulously.

Reflecting on his age and their enduring partnership, Christopher, 66, admitted to : “We’ve been doing it a long time and people our age shouldn’t be doing it now, so we’re just happy that we can still do it.”

During a moving interview, he disclosed: “This will be our last live skate on Dancing on Ice because we’re doing our final tour this year. So once we’ve finished our last skate on the tour, we won’t be performing again.”

Jayne, 67, and Christopher may have decided to retire from performing on the reality show, but they’re not leaving the ice rink entirely. Despite hanging The iconic duo will continue to grace ITV’s Dancing on Ice as judges, providing guidance and support to new talents in the world of ice dancing, reports .

It comes after they told the outlet last year about their plans to step back from competitive skating and tours after boasting a decorated skating career.

The skating duo lifted the lid on their decision to remain part of Dancing On Ice while retiring from active performances. Chris reflected on the timing of this transition, saying: “I think there comes a time when you know.

“We’re not spring chickens any more, but we’re still able to do it to a certain degree we feel good about it, but that will go. This is the right time for us to be able to do that and go and skate and do some of the old routines. 

“[It will] be very nostalgic, but then we’ll do some new fun, upbeat dances with friends of ours from the skating world and from Dancing On Ice.

“We’ll have a sense of pride as well, I think, of what we’ve done. I think we’ll get reflective and look at it not in a sad way but in a happy way.”

As they step away from the spotlight, both Jayne and Christopher are eager to embrace a slower pace of life. Jayne looks forward to spending more time in Spain with her husband, Phil Christensen.

Meanwhile Christopher, alongside his partner Karen, is keen to travel around the UK in their motorhome, savouring the freedom and relaxation that retirement brings.

The Olympians first teamed up back in 1975 and quickly become the UK’s most beloved ice dancers. Their gold medal performance at the Sarajevo Olympics in 1984 is a moment forever imprinted in the annals of sports history.

The duo made a return to amateur competition in 1994, securing a bronze medal. Their influence on British figure skating remains unparalleled, and their legacy continues through Dancing on Ice and the countless skaters they have inspired.
