A top blogger has issued a warning to passengers preparing to set sail to think twice when ordering five particular food items on board a .
One of the best parts of going on holiday is sampling all the different foods from dining in the ship’s main dining room or helping yourself to the buffet. Your fare typically covers breakfast, lunch and dinner.
And although being provided with the option of having your food prepared for you everyday may sound heavenly, you might want to steer clear from certain foods if you have a “sensitive stomach or simply want to avoid some of the worst options”.
The risk of food poisoning on your cruise ship getaway is most likely to be high due to the variety of foods being served by numerous food handlers.
All it takes is one person to not wash their hands properly after preparing or serving food to cause a cruise ship outbreak for fellow passengers and crewmembers.

Angie, who goes by Cruise Blog, has lifted the lid on the ‘five foods not to eat on a cruise’ in a video shared on .
Communal condiments is first on the list of foods to avoid. Your favourite sauces often sit where they are for a long period of time, remaining unrefrigerated “for hours” or even “outdoors” warns Angie.
Angie adds: “Since their temperature isn’t being controlled, the chances of pathogenic bacteria growing is increased.
“You do not want to get food poisoning.”
The cruise blogger also added that not everyone will have scrubbed their hands with soap and water before heading for the mayonnaise and ketchup.
Tap water is the second no go, especially in certain countries. Angie suggests bringing a refillable water bottle, adding: “Drinking contaminated water is a quick way to ruin your trip.”

Scrambled eggs are the next food item to pass on board a ship as sometimes cruises will use “powdered eggs” which have a “squishy texture” so they will not turn out super soft and creamy.
Angie says: “Even if they’re prepared fresh, scrambled eggs under heat lamps dry out quickly.”
However, all is not lost if you love eggs to start your day off as Angie recommends going to the ‘made to order’ section and getting a fresh omelette instead.
One of your favourite things to do on holiday may be to treat yourself to a refreshing ice cream as you watch the waves lap up against your cruise. However, Angie suggested steering clear of soft serve ice cream because it is likely that not everyone would have washed their hands thoroughly enough.
Dinner rolls round up the top five foods as if you over indulge in the free bread at the start of your meal, you risk not being able to manage your starter, main and pudding.
