icon Vicki Fowler is returning to Albert Square after more than 20 years away – and she is not alone.
The character, previously played by Scarlett Alice Johnson, has been living in Australia with long-term love Spencer Moon (Christopher Parker) since she bid farewell to Walford in 2004.
Vicki, the love child of teen mum Michelle Fowler, most recently portrayed by Jenna Russell) and Dirty Den Watts (Leslie Grantham), arrives in the Square to attend her uncle Martin Fowler’s (James Bye) funeral.
But when she arrives with her new man, it comes as quite the shock to sister Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) and Spencer’s brother Alfie Moon (Shane Richie), who had no idea the couple had parted ways.
It quickly becomes clear that Vicky is serious about Ross and that the couple are keen to ingratiate themselves with her family.

Andor and Rain Dogs star Alice Haig is taking on the role of Vicki Fowler, while The Bill and Holby City actor Alex Walkinshaw will appear as Ross. They will be joined by his son Joel, played by Max Murray.
Of her new role, Alice said: “I am so excited. I have always watched the show, and I was born in February 1985, so I’m the same age as ! It’s so cool to be playing a character like Vicki – we think we know her, but a lot has changed. I can’t wait for all the Albert Square drama ahead.”
Alex admitted he’s “really excited” to be joining the cast, adding: “The show is top draw drama and I can’t wait to get stuck in. Ross is a decent, hardworking family man, he always puts family first, and he is very in love with Vicki, but it’s not always plain sailing.”
Speaking about joining the cast as Joel, Max said: “It’s an absolute privilege and honour to be joining such a wonderful production full of a lovely cast and crew. I’m really looking forward to introducing Joel to viewers and telling his story.”

Vicki was born in the soap in 1986, conceived in a controversial storyline about teenage pregnancy. She was written out in October 1995, after Susan Tully, who originally played Vicki’s mother Michelle, decided to leave the soap.
The character returned eight years later, introduced in 2003 as a rebellious teenager who had run away from home. The following year, Vicki decided to return to America and stay with her mother.
It was later revealed that Vicki had moved to Australia and reunited with Spencer. In 2014, Alfie headed to Sydney after Sharon told him that Vicki and Spencer needed help opening a bar.
Sometime between then and now, Vicki and Spencer decided to part ways and she makes her way back to Walford to bid farewell to Martin, .
