Ant and Dec injury that almost derailed Britain’s Got Talent as medics rushed to help

host received medical attention after accidentally headbutting a coconut and injuring his forehead. The favourite was alongside Declan Donnelly during the show’s auditions in 2022 when he was tended to by first aiders.

Unaware of his bleeding forehead until Dec pointed it out, Ant had been engaging with an act involving dozens of coconuts on stage, attempting to break one using various body parts.

Initially, he punched a coconut, exclaiming: “Do not punch coconuts kids, it really hurts. I think I nearly broke my knuckle.” He then hit it against his head, remarking: “Why did you say forehead? Because I was bound to try.”

Dec informed him that he had sustained a cut on his head and was bleeding.

Ant, addressing someone off-camera, joked: “How irresponsible are you?”

The attending medic humorously advised the TV star that he’d need to change his dressing daily for three weeks. Despite the mishap, Ant maintained his humour, commenting: “This is very extreme for a little tap on the forehead.”

Nevertheless, Ant wasn’t deterred and soon returned to the stage for another go at cracking coconuts.

The popular ITV talent show returns tonight for its 18th series with judges , and former judge .

Ant and Dec return to host the show, with social media star and musician KSI joining the panel as a guest judge.

Simon revealed that he had a while filming the latest series when he was asked to lay next to a line of watermelons as a contestant smashed them with a sledgehammer.

The 65-year-old said: “It’s that feeling when you kind of think somebody doesn’t want you on the show any more. It was that. It was the closest, genuinely, where I’m thinking, ‘they actually want to kill me’.

“And I swear to God, that’s how I felt because this guy got really nervous and he’d slipped and was shaking as he was smashing these watermelons.

“The health and safety guys, normally quite annoying, actually stopped him. Thank god, they saved my life.”

McPartlin said he and the rest of the cast were and added that there is “a lot of danger” in this year’s series.

Britain’s Got Talent will return on Saturday at 7pm on ITV1, ITVX and STV.
