A newborn baby died after being thrown out of a hotel window by an American in , according to authorities.
The child allegedly still had its umbilical cord attached when it was thrown from the building by an 18-year-old woman.
The newborn was reportedly taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later pronounced dead.
The tragic incident unfolded at around 6am in a small side street of the capital’s 20th arrondissement, according to Le Parisien.
An 18-year-old woman threw a baby “with the umbilical cord [still attached]” from the second floor window of an Ibis Style hotel on the Rue des Reglises, the publication reported.
Eyewitnesses sounded the alarm and the child was rushed to the Robert-Debré hospital before being pronounced dead.

The Paris prosecutor’s office reportedly confirmed that a homicide investigation had been opened into the death.
They added that the mother had been “part of a group of young adults travelling in Europe”.
“She was also taken into custody on site,” the office told Le Parisien. “The possibility of a denial of pregnancy is being considered.”

Witnesses were alerted to the horrific scene by screams, according to Paris Match, which also reported that the baby was hospitalised in an “emergency” condition with “life threatening” injuries.
The news outlet said the newborn’s mother was on a study trip to Paris from the US.
People close to the case said a police investigation was still in its early stages.
