The charm and beauty of in Cornwall with its small fishing port and stunning beaches have made it an increasingly popular destination in recent years — perhaps too popular for its own good.
The has also become popular amongst celebrities like television personality, Fern Britton, and celebrity chefs Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth who have homes there.
While tourism injects millions into the town annually, it has also driven up the , with Padstow’s house prices averaging £750,429 last year, according to .
A local told : “The old fisherman’s cottages in Padstow have been renovated for holiday homes, where they used to cost about £25,000, they’re now £500,000.
“The cost of land is very expensive. Therefore builders want to build as big a unit as possible to maximise their earning potential.

“Local people don’t need five or six bedroom homes, designed so lots of families can come on holiday together, what they need are small two or three bedroom home starter units.”
Last year, it was reported that the average house prices had gone up by 83% from £382,560 ten years ago to £701,979.
While the influx of visitors has brought economic benefits, it has also created a housing market that is out of reach for many who call Padstow home.
Padstow is famed as one of the most beautiful and affluent towns in Cornwall.

One resident told the Telegraph last year: “Rock is a traditional sailing village – there is lots of old-school money and a lot of second homes. But in Padstow you will find an all-year-round community.”
Trebethrick Bay in Rock is the most expensive area, and is where renowned chef Gordon Ramsay sold his home for £7.5mn.
Padstow and the nearby area are also a favourite holiday spot for and .
Padstow was also named the “poshest” seaside town.
