Households expecting a visit from Royal Mail can generally expect parcels and letters to arrive together. However, Royal Mail says there are occasions when it delivers items separately, for example, a large item or a Special Delivery Guaranteed item.

The postal service has issued a warning to customers serviced by five delivery offices who may face delays to their usual service.

Parts of East London and Northern Ireland are among those affected.

Don’t miss… [REVEAL]

Royal Mail said: “We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.”

However, customers have been assured that action is being taken to “minimise the delay” for individuals, including rotating deliveries.

The postal service added that it also “provides targeted support” to delivery offices to address their challenges and restore service to a “high standard”.
