chiefs are in agreement that sacking just months after appointing him as the club’s new head coach is out of the question, according to reports. However, the hierarchy has been tipped to be monitoring potential replacement opportunities amid the nightmare start to Amorim’s reign.
United were four points adrift of the top four when the Portuguese tactician replaced in November.
Despite an expectation that Amorim would require time and patience to instil his 3-4-3 system with a squad built by his predecessor, the Red Devils have slumped to 15th under his watch.
Amorim is struggling to get a tune out of his underperforming players, losing eight of his last 12 Premier League matches at the helm.
United’s worrying position three places above the relegation zone has sparked debate over whether the 40-year-old’s job could be incredibly at risk if the situation doesn’t improve.

It’s claimed that United figures appreciate the former Sporting boss’ public insistence that he won’t abandon his philosophy despite his early woes.
However, ex-Germany international Markus Babbel – who has managed five clubs, including Stuttgart, Hertha Berlin and Hoffenheim, since retirement – believes alternative plans will be in place.

“United will be having a look at people who could replace as manager,” Babbel told .
“They always are. They’re one of the biggest clubs in the world and have had great success in the past, but now they’re struggling.
“It’s not an attractive location anymore, players’ values drop, and they could be going somewhere else for the same money and play European football – which United can’t offer at the moment.”
Amorim is under contract at Old Trafford until 2027, affording him two full seasons in charge after what has become a write-off of a campaign in the Premier League.
United are staring at back-to-back record-low finishes after slumping to eighth last season before qualifying for the Europa League by winning the FA Cup.
The M16 giants’ season remains alive in those two competitions, though. Fulham visit Old Trafford in the fifth round of the FA Cup next weekend.
On Friday, United will learn their Europa League last-16 opponents and their path to the May 21 final in Bilbao, which is their golden ticket into next season’s Champions League.
However, Amorim’s side can’t continue losing matches at the current rate if they are to have any chance of salvaging something from another miserable campaign.
