Kylie Kelce shares the one thing she won’t allow at her kids’ birthday parties

With three young daughters at home and one on the way, Kylie Kelce knows a thing or two about kids’ birthday parties, and as usual she’s not afraid to share her opinions.

“I am not a big fan of big birthdays for babies,” said Kelce on her “Not Gonna Lie” podcast. She added, “Birthdays 1 and 2 — they’re for parents, right? Like, the tcooler is fully stocked. Those kids don’t know what’s going on.”

With specific input from the birthday girl, Kylie and her husband (retired NFL star Jason Kelce) have decorated or ordered a cake for each celebration. The parents give the girls a slice of cake “and then just let them go in on it,” she said.

Though Kelce is strongly in favor of decorated birthday cakes, there is one thing she is “vehemently against”: Giving gifts to siblings of the birthday child.

“Our family knows no one else is receiving a birthday present for Bennett’s birthday,” she explained. “When your siblings get presents for your birthday, it reduces your birthday. It’s not their birthday, it’s your birthday.”

Kelce continued, “I think it teaches them to a degree that just because someone’s getting presents doesn’t mean you get presents. It feels very participation trophy-esque.”

The Kelces have lots of celebrating coming up soon. Bennett turns 2 on Feb. 23 and Elliotte turns 4 on March 4. And the newest Kelce won’t be far behind her sisters! (Eldest daughter Wyatt has a birthday in October.)

This year, Ellie has requested a cake with a Disney “T.O.T.S” theme (“I’m deep in it with Pip and Freddy,” Kelce said.) and Bennie’s cake will feature Elsa and Olaf from “Frozen.”

“We will scroll Pinterest and Google search to see some birthday cakes for kids’ birthdays, and then we order it,” said Kelce. “I think it’s very special for them to get to show all of the people who come to celebrate their birthday that they got to pick their cake and how excited they are for it.”

She mentioned one of her Instagram videos that demonstrated how excited Wyatt was for her pink dinosaur birthday cake.

In the video, a spirited Wyatt interrupts someone sitting next to her to remind them, “It’s not your birthday. It’s my bithday.” She then goes on to describe the exact birthday cake she requested.

“It’s a green dinosaur,” Wyatt says. Her mom responds, “With a pink cake. Is that what you asked for?”
