TV chef and restaurateur Gordon Ramsay has revealed that his new London restaurant, Lucky Cat 22 Bishopsgate, has been hit by a spate of thefts.
The Hell’s Kitchen star said that hundreds of the lucky beckoning Japanese cat models called maneki-neko, which adorn the restaurant, have been taken.
“The cats are getting stolen. There were 477 stolen last week – they cost £4.50 each,” he said on ITV’s The Jonathan Ross Show. It totalled £2,146.50 in losses during one week.
Reflecting on his global restaurant empire which consists of more than 80 restaurants worldwide, he said: “It does get a bit scary, in terms of how big it is and the global impact. The team are incredible and there are some amazing chefs throughout.
“Opening in 1998 Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, I would never have thought it would be here today – this year we celebrated 24 years at three-star Michelin.”

The proud dad-of-six also divulged details of his daughter Holly’s upcoming nuptials to Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty.
He revealed that the couple was planning a “Christmas wedding” and that the engagement didn’t follow traditional convention.
The chef, who has five other children with wife Tana, said Adam, who appeared on in 2021, didn’t ask his permission before getting down on one knee, although he did discuss the engagement with him.
“He’s (Adam) so down to earth and so focused and disciplined. He sat us down in Cornwall. He said, ‘Holly is just the perfect woman. I’d like to get your blessing – from you and Tana for her hand in marriage.

“It was that sort of amazing moment. Everything went quiet. As a future son-in-law, we couldn’t ask for anyone better.”
YouTuber Holly and the three-time Olympic gold medal winner announced their engagement in September, shortly after he earned a silver medal competing in the Paris Olympics.
Appearing alongside Gordon on this week’s The Jonathan Ross Show are former actor Danny Dyer, Ugly Betty star Vanessa Williams, Babygirl actor Harris Dickinson, Olympic runner Keely Hodgkinson and singer Joan Armatrading .
