Oh, bless his heart: Zachary Levi seems to believe that a billionaire cares more about political affiliations than his bottom line.
The “Shazam” star, who publicly endorsed President Donald Trump during the 2024 presidential election, implored Elon Musk to not “let everybody fall through the cracks” amid the nonofficial Department of Government Efficiency’s cuts to the federal workforce.
“There are good people, people who voted for Donald Trump, who are losing their jobs. And we got to make sure we don’t leave those folks behind,” Levi said on Monday’s episode of Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime.”
Levi supported Trump after his preferred candidate, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., dropped his independent presidential bid in August.
The “Chuck” star told Watters that he is “so grateful” that Trump won the presidency and that Kennedy was confirmed as secretary of health and human services so that they “can do the work.” But the actor also said he feels the Musk-run “DOGE is complicated.”
Musk’s directives within DOGE have been observed as reckless, illegal and, arguably, disturbingly stupid as the entity barrels ahead like a bull in a china shop with massive layoffs of the federal workforce.
“There are a lot of people that are very afraid right now, because there are truly good, working people that work for the government that are getting lost in the cracks. And we have got to do something about that,” Levi told Watters, before deciding to plead to Musk directly.
“Please, Elon and all of your team, and whatever needs to happen, please don’t let everybody fall through the cracks, as we are doing what is necessary, which is to get in there and cut a cancer out,” the “Tangled” star said.
Levi then went on to compare DOGE’s cuts to cancer patients undergoing surgery.
“You lose some good healthy tissue along with that. [Doctors] don’t want to do that, but it’s a part of extracting that darkness out of there. And right now, that’s what’s happening.”
It’s not exactly clear what Musk’s actual aim is when it comes to his swift and seemingly heedless dismantling of federal agencies, but some suspect that the richest man in the world wants to make even more money without any kind of government interference.

Musk has long been vocal about his annoyance with the U.S. government, claiming that federal investigations and safety programs have hindered his companies, Tesla and SpaceX. Safety advocates told The Associated Press earlier this month that with Musk’s new role, he could essentially shut down any federal pushback or government watchdogs.
“Musk wants to run the Department of Transportation,” Missy Cummings, a former senior safety adviser at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, told the AP. “I’ve lost count of the number of investigations that are underway with Tesla. They will all be gone.”
Mike Whitaker, the former Federal Aviation Administration administrator, also stepped down from his position on Trump’s Inauguration Day. The former FAA head repeatedly clashed with Musk over safety concerns regarding SpaceX — and slapped him with $633,009 in fines after the rocket company received three safety violations.
