It’s what’s under that skin and integrated into that chassis that Chevy’s really amped up about, though: the EV.R is meant to act as a test-bed for possible future motorsports-oriented electric-vehicle powertrains, though of course the tech innovations showcased on the prototype may have production applications, too.
In this first iteration, we’re talking three six-phase electric motors that put down a combined 1,300 horsepower in output, all routed through a new programmable all-wheel-drive setup and fed by a 78-kWh liquid-cooled battery. No mere show car, the Blazer EV.R was run at race speeds at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, South Carolina earlier this month to put all that mettle to the test.
