Dancing On Ice’s James Jordan calls out judges over ‘cop out’ decision and ‘discrepancy’

winner has taken a swipe at the judges over their decision to send Chris Taylor home last weekend.

The 46-year-old claims Ashley Banjo, Oti Mabuse, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean have been inconsistent with their scores and are holding back on their true thoughts.

Last Sunday, the judges unanimously opted to save footballer Anton Ferdinand over Love Island star Chris.

Sharing his thoughts, James began by saying he was “gutted” to see Chris leave, and believes his change-up of skating partners may not have helped.

Chris was paired with his new professional partner Robin Johnstone two weeks ago, after Vanessa Bauer was forced to pull out of the show due to an injury.

James said: “I was surprised to see him in the bottom two, he has that likability factor as well. I was surprised that more people didn’t vote for him.

“I was shocked to see him there with Anton [Ferdinand].”

James particularly took issue with the judges’ reasoning for saving Anton.

“[The judges] saying that they kept Anton because of the song is a bit of a cop out for me, because you’re not judging the song – you’re supposed to be judging the skating and however they perform in the skate-off,” he shared.

“It should be down to that, not because you got moved by the song. [The judges] should be able to look past that.”

The ex star added: “You’re there as a judge to put through who’s the best on the night and possibly who you think is going to bring more to the competition.

“Chris [Taylor] brought more to the competition than Anton – that’s my personal feeling and that’s how I would have judged it,” he added in association with .

James also believes the judges have become inconsistent with their marking and critique.

Reflecting on last week’s scores, which resulted in Dan Edgar being at the top of the leader board, he said: “I don’t think the marks were right.

“With Sam [Aston] and Molly [Lanaghan], I preferred the fact that the judges were going 7.5 or 9 – so there’s quite a discrepancy there.

“Sometimes they [the judges] give scores of eight and I think to myself – ‘I would have given this a six’.

“For Mollie [Pearce] and Colin [Grafton], everyone gave sevens and for me it was a six. Why are they worried?

“It doesn’t matter if you say they’re not good at skating, you’re not saying they’re a bad human being!”.

Dancing On Ice continues tonight at 6.30pm on ITV and ITVX.
