WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Yellowjackets.
Yellowjackets creators have opened up on the future of the hit drama ahead of its season three debut.
It’s been a tense two-year wait since we witnessed the chilling events of season two unravel on Paramount+ and Showtime.
The cabin going up in flames in the 1990s timeline and the shocking demise of Natalie (portrayed by Juliette Lewis) have certainly left viewers on the edge of their seats.
Now, gear up as the countdown begins as season four of Yellowjackets makes a much-anticipated return with a double whammy premiere on Paramount+ on Friday, February 14.
With the wait almost over, fans are desperate to know just how many series they are going to be treated to.
Though not set in stone, the creators have spoken out on the plan that Yellowjackets is going to have a five-season arc.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly in 2023, co-creator Ashley Lyle confessed “We don’t really see this as being more than a five-season show.
“I think that there are shows that can go forever, but I think that when you’re telling such a deeply serialized story and it’s about these characters’ lives, you want to reach a satisfying conclusion and not just drag things out forever.
“This isn’t really one of those setup shows where it can go anywhere.”
Lyle previously stated that “we’re still on track” for Yellowjackets to conclude with five seasons, indicating there could be another two series to look forward to after the third instalment.

However, while the creators’ initial plan was for the show to run until season five, this isn’t guaranteed.
As reported by The Direct, since Yellowjackets was first developed in the late 2010s, the “peak TV” era has come to an end as “studios and streamers have become more budget-conscious and are greenlighting fewer projects overall”.
Furthermore, while season three was confirmed months before the series two premiere, there has been no announcement regarding a fourth series.
Therefore, only time will tell if the creators can stick to their five-arc plan or if the thriller will conclude before reaching a “satisfying” ending.
